Summer golf is finally here. Well, for me anyway. Now that I am less-stressed, able to drive and bringing in my own money - means that I can go on to play golf in the weekends. Since its summer, golf courses are generally empty save for the crazy idiots who brave the heat for the love of the game.
I am one of said crazy idiots.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of playing the Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club. It is the same course that host the Dubai Desert Classic. What a great course! There is a reason why the most prestigious tournament in Dubai is held on this course. Its a very challenging course but its highly enjoyable to play. Andrew, one of my playing partner, who has played all the golf courses in Dubai even claimed that this is the best course in Dubai.
I cannot claim that yet as I have yet to play all the other courses.

I have the pleasure of playing with Andrew (right) and Irving (left). Both bloody ozzies. I am friends with Andrew's wife, Sharon (whom I met when I first came here through an expat women group) and Irving is actually Sharon's work boss. It seems everytime I am friends with a girl, I will somehow end up playing golf with her partner/boyfriend/husband. Its quite a treat really. And it happens a lot.
I love playing with these guys because they're equal golf fanatics. We would talk golf all through and compare notes. I played relatively well and my short game is short of brilliant. I think all the playing at Gainsborough and Dublin helped my confidence and touch in chipping and putting. The heat is definitely something that you have to put up with (touching 50+ degrees in peak mid-day) and its very important to keep drinking water throughout. I must have drank like 8 600ML bottles of water in 4 hours with no trips to the bathroom. Shows you how dehyrated you can get out here.
By the way, Andrew is somewhat a magician with the camera cause he takes lovely shots.

I can't wait to get my own set of clubs. With the cheaper green fees throughout summer, I can't wait to hit my next golf course.
